And A Happy New Year

Happy 2026 to you all!

I hope and pray that this year will bring each and every one of you love, laughter, comfort, and adventure.

I know that it is already close to the end of the very first month of 2026, so I wanted to leave you with a few things to carry with you into the next 11 months of this year.

As you embark on the adventure of a new year, I hope that you will remember to carry with you love, compassion, hope, and kindness. For some, the new year can be a time of relief (a sense of peace can come from a new time to set goals, reset and get a “fresh start” from a previous year). For others, the new year can be a time of fearfulness (a new year can come at the same time as hardships and could also be sad for some who aren’t ready to let the previous year go).

Wherever you are at on the scale in how you feel about the new year, I hope that you will remember that a new year does come with new opportunities. Whether you struggle with this time of the year, or find excitement from it, know that you have so many opportunities that come with the start of 2026.

You have the opportunity to choose how you want this year to go. God knows every move we will ever make, but we do have free will to choose how we act, behave, and even live. It is up to you to decide how you want to live this year. You can choose to fall into the same old routines as the year before, or you can choose to change it up, and change it for the better.

Whatever you may have had in 2025 that “held you down”, that kept you from truly living and loving your life, do not let that happen again this year. We all have something that we have let take ahold of our lives. For me, I came home from work and poured myself into TV. I told myself that I needed time to decompress after teaching for the day, and while that may be true, I also had goals that I wanted to accomplish as well during that after-school time. I wanted to do so many things, but I never stuck to my goal, instead I let myself fall into that habit that I had developed years prior.

I owe it to myself to reach those goals in 2026. You owe it to yourself to reach your goals, too. While I may not be the kind of person who sits down and writes New Years resolutions, I can choose to start the year by making a promise to myself that I will accomplish the goals that I want to accomplish. You deserve a good 2026, so work to make it happen.

I pray that you are able to hold onto the beautiful things from 2025, and release all of the not-so-good things. I wish you all a good end of your holidays, and a happy new year as well.
